Semantic Search [08/2006 – 03/2009]
Index and Search Layer
Implemented a hybrid search engine to query both textual and structured data in large knowledge bases e.g. Wikipedia, by extending IR index structures and functions. [1][2][7] demo
- Proposed an effective update mechanism on the IR index for semantic data. Presented a Block Index structure to reduce the update cost. [5]
User Interface Layer
Implemented a relation-enhanced faceted browsing and search interface to let users easily create complex hybrid queries. Extended IR engines to efficiently support it. [1][2] demo
Presented approaches to tackle the scalability problem in translating keywords to semantic formal queries, based on summary graph and top-k ranking algorithm. [6] demo
Data Extraction Layer
Tackled the scalability problem in translating keywords to semantic formal queries, based on summary graph and top-k ranking algorithm. [4] demo
Search Billion Triples
Built an infrastructure for searching billion triples from heterogeneous data sources on the web through a single interface. Three highlights were expressive keyword search with faceted browsing, integrated management of Web data sources, and real-time performance. [1][3] demo
Ontology Storage and Inference [10/2004 – 03/2006]
- Implemented a scalable storage and inference system for large OWL ontologies on top of relational databases, by customizing database schemata according to inference requirements. [8]
- Proposed a probabilistic extension of Description Logic to provide a fast uncertainty reasoning service for semantic web applications. [9]
Personal Information Management [08/2005 – 10/2005]
- Built a semantic file system to improve desktop information management based on semantic file attributes that are intelligiently learnt from file content, context and user interaction. [10][11][12]
